The Museum of Illusions format, conceived in Zagreb in 2015 by Rodo Zivkovic and already present in over 30 cities worldwide, has now arrived in Lombardy’s capital. In Italy, Milan was the first location to welcome this special museum where visual games, illusions and puzzles challenge all visitors, both adults and children.
Milan’s Museum of Illusions is a place where you can have fun whilst learning new things. Inside there are five special rooms: the Colour Room, the Ames Room, the Rotated Room and the Infinity Room. Each of these rooms features unique characteristics, games, illusions and mental challenges. In addition to these rooms, the museum contains around 70 attractions that invite you to enjoy yourself through scientific, biological, physical and mathematical activities. Don’t miss the Beuchet’s Chair illusion, the Infinity Tunnel, the Kaleidoscope, Rubin’s Vase and the Vortex Tunnel.
A visit to this special museum lasts around an hour, during which the main aim is to have fun. Spending time at the Museum of Illusions means being amazed and fascinated by how our minds work through activities that involve perspective and optical perception. For this reason, it can be said that it’s not a place loved only by children, but also by adults.
Milan’s Museum of Illusions is open Monday to Thursday from 10.00am to 8.30pm, with the last admission at 7.30pm.
From Friday to Sunday the Museum is open from 10.00am to 9.00pm, with the last admission at 8.00pm.
On Saturdays, Sundays and all public holidays, entry is only available for those who have already booked online. On other weekdays, online booking is not compulsory but highly recommended.

To visit the museum at weekends, you need to book online in advance. However, given the high visitor numbers, we also recommend booking your ticket in advance on weekdays.
The Museum of Illusions is not far from Milan’s Central Station. You can reach this museum by public transport, particularly the metro, as there are stops nearby: Centrale FS (MM3/MM2), Lima (MM1) and Repubblica (MM3).
Alternatively, you can take the suburban railway and get off at Porta Venezia stop. You can also take the tram lines 5, 9, 10 and get off at Via Vitruvio stop, or buses line 60, 81, N26 also stopping at Via Vitruvio, which is right next to the Museum.
The Museum can also be reached by car as it’s outside the ZTL (restricted traffic zone) and there are many car parks in the surrounding areas, though practically all of them are paid.
The Museum of Illusions is located at Via Luigi Settembrini 11, just a short walk from Milan's Central Station. The museum is approximately 2.5 km from Piazza Duomo and 1.5 km from Piazza Gae Aulenti.
