Montecampione is a ski resort in the Val Camonica situated at 1,200 metres above sea level, spanning the municipalities of Pian Camuno and Artogne. Montecampione has become a popular Brescia tourism destination, attracting visitors not only in winter but throughout the year.

The resort was developed in the 1970s and 1980s when the area’s tourist potential was recognised, leading to the construction of the first ski lifts – capable of reaching 2,000 metres – and the initial phase of the current tourist complex. The oldest settlement is Alpiaz, located at 1,200 metres, which today houses the ski lifts and most of the area’s accommodation.

Montecampione is now the perfect destination for a mountain weekend at any time of year. In winter, the resort attracts winter sports enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful mountain retreat, whilst in summer, many visitors come to spend days immersed in nature. Key advantages include its proximity to cities such as Brescia and Bergamo, making it easily accessible for a day trip, plus its closeness to other popular attractions around Lake Iseo.

Ski lifts at Montecampione

The Montecampione ski area covers the territories of Pian Camuno and Artogne and boasts approximately 30 km of slopes stretching from 1,200 metres at Montecampione to nearly 2,000 metres at Colma di Marucolo. For beginners, there are two ski schools: one near the lifts at 1,200 metres and another at 1,800 metres. For experienced skiers, there are four black runs, including Secondino Nord – a genuinely thrilling descent.

A major advantage of this ski area is that you can leave your car behind, as the lifts depart directly from the residential area. For cross-country skiing enthusiasts, there are two loops totalling approximately 8 km. In addition, you can enjoy snowshoeing along numerous trails and ice skating at the small lake rink. There are plenty of mountain refuges, bars and après-ski venues both on the slopes and in the valley.

Montecampione offers various lift pass options including daily, multi-day and consecutive multi-day passes. There are also hourly passes (two, three or four hours) and point cards, which are better suited for beginners. Lift passes can be purchased at the ticket offices at the ski lifts or online through the official website.

Near the small lake there is also a golf course with its own country club. Few people know that Montecampione is home to grass skiing, with the resort having frequently hosted World Cup races in this discipline.

Less than 20 km away is Darfo Boario Terme, renowned for its thermal spas, whilst to the south lies Lake Iseo with its charming lakeside towns.
